Banjarmasin as the capital of South Kalimantan Province is known as a city of a thousand rivers. The city has the name due to geographical conditions Banjarmasin city surrounded by many large and small rivers. One such river is the river that passes through the region Kuin Kuin Village North, South Kuin, and Kuin Cerucuk. The purpose of writing this article is to determine the function of the river for the people living on the banks of the River Kuin. This writing uses qualitative descriptive methods, and data are selected purposively and through snowball sampling, besides interview and observation. The results showed that the river was not only serves as transportation routes, but also serves to economic activity, interaction, and socialization.
